ABOUT US

Marquee L.A. started as a curated weekly newsletter highlighting exceptional films, screenings, and film events in the Greater Los Angeles area.

We want subscribers to feel informed about current notable independent movies; catalog, classic, and repertory programs; new voices; festivals; experimental works; and Q&As and panel discussions.

We promote only events that are open to the public, free or ticketed — no guild membership, press credentials, or test-screening group affiliations required.

Our email newsletter goes out every Monday, to help you plan your week. Each edition focuses on imminent and newly announced events (before they sell out!), while our calendar should keep you up-to-date on screenings further out.

The email newsletter will always be free to subscribers. We will never sell your private contact information. Whenever possible, we’ll provide projection format, language, theater, parking, and other key details about the films and venues.

We believe one of the best ways to bring audiences to the global movie experience is by acting on a local level: supporting local businesses and organizations, and amplifying developing voices. Marquee L.A. hopes to strengthen film and arts communities by connecting people to a wide array of cinema programming in Los Angeles. We aim to serve audiences of all ages and persuasions, from devoted cinephiles to people simply seeking conversation and access to cinema culture and community.

Created and maintained by veteran entertainment journalists Russ Fischer and Katie Hasty, the project is intended to be enjoyed by film fans residing outside of Southern California as much as other Angelinos.
